“transmuted”

artist statement

my work highlights my personal recollections and interactions with my surroundings through experimentation with different art processes, motivating a sense of abstracted vulnerability and reflection. "transmuted" was developed through the cyanotype process, a photographic printing process that can create rich, deep blue tones. it's one of my favorite processes to do during the spring and summer months especially. i used a culmination of different cuttings of plants i had found over various seasons for this piece. through this piece, i not only documented all the different plants i had found, but similar to the process of maceration, was breaking them down and abstracting them into another form. i culminated all these plants that were once alive, had become dried and decayed, and recollected my memories associated with them, placing them into a composition of my own, using their silhouettes to form this work.
